Great stuff I went to look at the first course but when I looked at the videos they are all set to Private.
Sorry about that Donny. It's fixed now. :)
Awesome!
Locking in and mastering bar chords is a game changer from open cowboy chords that's for sure! Those ready to dive in should be very excited about this one! Looking forward to hearing about those gradually progressing to that next level! Enjoy! :-)
Congrats on the launch! First module is looking great. Bar chords are not something I'm currently focussing on as I've got the E and A shapes mostly down. But the D and C shapes are something I'd like to learn some day. That's when the option of buying a la carte will come in handy :)
I've spent some time on Bar Chords, and problem for me has always been switching from Bar to Open chords, and vice versa. Great work on this Nate and Chelsea!
Congratulations on your first module well done, bar chords though intimidating and hard at first ( at least for me ) are well worth the effort and the time, I really like the 7chords specially minor 7th there is something about that sound, right now practicing thumb over chords and partial bar (Josh Homme ), lots of clean fun.
I'm a huge fan of 7, major 7 and minor 7 chords too! They really add some colour and interest to the feel of a song.
Yes the beauty of 7th chords! Being that I enjoy and play R&B and Neo Soul music as well, I absolutely love the added tones of the 7th's and extended chords. Definitely my favorites to play. :-)
@Nate Savage and @Chelsea Amber Congrats on the Bar chord MC that Is great news and can’t wait for the roll out for the rest of the modules... they are definitely on my list to purchase when available. I’ve been putting off the bar chords for way to long...... Ok no excuses for and will have the tools to tackle those bar chords, so I can REALLY work on more Keith Richards tunes... 🙂
I just completed all of module 1. Absolutely looking forward to getting the other modules and ebook, and then supplementing that with the one on one lessons.
Having worked on these previously, my bar chords sound pretty clean; it's more the transitions from open chords that have been my problem. Best takeaway for me was the tip about hybrid practice. Alternate how you practice putting the chord (first the bar, then start with second finger etc) on to train your muscle memory. I have to work towards putting the whole bar on at once, but a few minutes a day of this type of practice can hopefully get me there. Watching this module also proves that even when you think you've already learned something, there is always something to gain. Especially when you went too fast the first time....
UPDATE: Chelsea and I finished filming all of the remaining modules for the Bar Chord Masterclass this past Saturday. That' means we are about 2 weeks ahead of schedule. My goal now is to have everything edited and up for purchase by Dec. 15th. We will see if I can make it in time!
Hi, That is great news. The first module was rather easy as I had some previous experience with bar chords, but it also made me realize that I needed work more on my technique(index finger placement). The D shape scares me a little, but I'm sure there will be some great guidance and learning tips from you both to help us overcome the challenge. Looking forward to learn more. Thank you.
Vincent
@Les Acadiens Hi Vincent. Yeah, I'd expect that you would have a pretty easy time through module 5 or so. Those other shapes can be a bit scary, but most of the time I just use little partial shapes. That makes them a lot easier.
Update: Hi all. Well... the Bar Chord Masterclass is all finished. All I have to do now is build the pages on the site and get the back end all set up. The entire thing should be up for purchase this coming week!
And now it's all done!! 😀 Huge thanks to everyone who has purchased the course so far. We look forward to hearing about your progress!
Final Update: The full Bar Chord Masterclass is up and available for purchase! I didn't think I'd be able to get it out before Christmas but I proved myself wrong. I'm looking forward to helping everyone who goes through the full course. It's on sale through New Year's Day so don't let that slip by. Don't forget that the 1st module is complimentary for everyone too.
Check out this page for more details and the full video explaining all that's covered in the course. https://www.guitarfam.com/barchords
Thanks so much to everyone who has added the full course to their account so far. This is a pretty big milestone for the Guitar Fam, and having a course out to generate revenue will allow us to put even more great instruction out there for you. If you have any questions related to the course, you can post them here in this forum topic or email us directly at support@guitafam.com
Many thanks, Nate & Chelsea
Thanks for the course! Just snooped in and found a lot to learn for mastering my bar chords in 2021. I think even in shapes I am already familiar with (E/A) I can focus on your additional hints. Never practiced C and G shape before ...
@Holger Strunk You are welcome Holger. Thanks so much for the support. Yeah, there is a lot in the course. You can learn just the basics of everything or you can take it to a very deep level. For most players, it should take between 1-2 years to get the most out of the course. Of course I know that not everyone will want to take things to the extreme end, but those wanting just the basics will be able to work through the first 6 modules or so and get a good working knowledge of bar chords down.
For you Holger, modules 6-12 will open up the fretboard quite a bit. I'm excited to see what you do with it.
