Hey all. Last year my Fulltone OCD pedal went out so I took it in to be repaired. The plastic power input collet was cracked and needed to be replaced, but when I got it back it still wasn't working. I sent it off again and got it back a 2nd time. I ended up spending about $50. I tried to fix it myself and ended up storing it away. This was a big bummer because this is one of my favorite guitar pedals and I've had it for about 15 years.
I was cleaning up some pedals to sell on Craigs List this weekend so I decided to give the OCD one more try. I ended up spraying some simple DeoxIT electrical contact cleaner in the input and output jacks and down in the knob shafts and guess what... It start working as good as the day I bought it. Geeze... I should have done that in the first place! I called this post a "Pro" tip to be facetious. This really is the first thing I should have done. :D
If you play electric guitar, you should have a can of this stuff. It's a little pricey but it will save you a lot of grief on your electric guitars, amps, and pedals. Here is a video I made with this story.

And here is a link to the contact cleaner. It's come down in price from what I mention in the video.
