There was one particularly large takeaway from my unfortunate and disappointing live debut. It’s one I’ve actually been thinking even before yesterday. I’ve been using chord charts as a crutch, and referring to one during a performance is not good, as evidenced yesterday. I need to know songs stone cold! My plan moving forward is regardless what I’m working on, I’ll practice a song or songs with the sole goal of playing it in its entirety, no chord chart. The best lesson often comes from a mistake, so I’m going to try to turn a negative into a positive!
