My Songwriting Challenge for July
I admit it. I've been creatively frustrated. LOL! I haven't written a song since entering motherhood, and the pile of song ideas on my phone, Google Docs, and random scraps on paper is steadily growing. It's time I do something about it because I'm itching to record and release a new album in 2024.
So here's the plan: Starting July 3rd, I'm going to work on a different song each day, Monday to Friday, for 4 weeks. That's 20 songs in a month which is more than I've ever written in that span of time. I won't be doing any co-writing sessions because I just want to get the ideas fleshed out before I bring anyone else into the process.
To make time for this, I'm taking a break from editing and posting YouTube videos for the month of July because that eats up a good chunk of time. I'm also reducing my blues guitar practice to just 15 minutes per day and narrowing in on developing a singular skill rather than spreading that 15 minutes too thin between multiple goals. Nate says songwriting with the guitar counts as practice too so that's a win. :)
I'm posting this here for accountability, but also to let you know that you're welcome to join me if you'd like. If I don't get any takers that ok too. LOL!
If you're interested in joining me, let me know and maybe I can search out songwriting prompts for us to use if we ever get stuck.
Thanks, Tammy! I appreciate the encouraging words. :)
