CAGED Course

In my guitar progress journal, I mentioned that I was moving along in the CAGED Course and I wondered whether I should stick with the major chords - 1,4,5 before moving to the minor chords.

Jason suggested that I stay with the major chords, which I agree with. Given that I know, the C major and the G Major, I thought I would move to the D Major. D,G,A in first position is no problem. Then in 2nd position, D, G is fine. But A, don't know what to do? Maybe I have to go back. Feel like I am missing something simple.

I'd say that the risk of moving on to minor chords before getting the majors down very well, is getting overwhelmed. I'd also say the risk of not moving on to the minor chords is getting bored. ;)

Personally, I'd stick to the majors for for the bulk of your work/practice. If you want to "preview' the minor chord modules, that's fine.

Hope that makes sense,

Nate
