I’d like to share a video made by Nahre Sol, a classical pianist and YouTube creator. She decided to document 30 days of her learning guitar, never having played before.

We can all learn a lot from her struggles as well as her approach to learning the instrument. As she says in the video, playing guitar is physically hard and can be frustrating. Even for a disciplined professional. She didn’t put too much pressure on herself to practice hours each day. She just put in a little time each day so that it could fit into her schedule. And one day when she wasn’t feeling great, she didn’t want to play at all. But once she sat down, she spent a nice amount of time practicing.

Another thing that resonated with me was that she gravitated to understanding shapes on the fretboard rather than trying to memorize the entire fretboard at first. This made playing chord progressions much more intuitive. In the chord quizzes @David Lieder posts, I often use this approach for understanding chord shapes.
