Backing others

so I met this guy at an Open Mic a couple months ago. He had sang before I performed. After my performance he came over and gave me his card and said to call him and that maybe we could do some jamming.

So i did and we eventually ended up getting together and jamming. He gave me his list of songs. We get along good and have much the same interests in songs.

He is an old crooner and not the best (but none of us are), but does sound a bit like some of the early country folks.

He plays and sings most everything in G. He has a bad habit of speeding up his tempo.

All that said it’s fun to have someone to jam with.

Mostly we have been playing his list. I enjoy backing him and trying to make the performance better with guitar and joining in on choruses. I’ve even found the time to work out a solo for one of his songs. We recorded it real quick this morning because he wanted to post it on his Facebook account as that is what he is using as examples for his attempts to get gigs at retirement facilities for pay. 💰 He has gotten a few recently. He is persistent and loves playing music and always dreamed of being in the music business so now he is.

I’m just happy to help him. He even wants me to go with him some to play at retirement facilities.

Here is the song we did this morning (yep I’m in my pajamas; I’m retired and can).

i imagine it would be more difficult backing up someone as you need to adjust your timing to them. great job. you need some sunglasses to go with them pajamas.
