Chord Quiz Monday July 8 (in middle of hurricane)
Well back from Florida and TKD Nationals totally exhausted. Didn’t get much opportunity to play guitar.
Home in Cayman Islands survived Hurricane Beryl with no problem.
Now at home in Texas (Houston area) just in time for Hurricane Beryl again. We are in the middle of it now. Rain, wind & lights flicking off and on. The eye is scheduled to come over us in a couple hours. 60mph gusts right now.
So I will have plenty opportunity to play today.

@Jim Mrvos one of the things i love about @David Lieder's quizzes is the chance to see how different people approach it from different angles... not only deepens one's understanding of the chord, but each approach is useful for different scenarios... one way of thinking about it is good for composition or theory, one way may be better for improvising, etc.
"tango en skai" has this lovely melody of G chords... G9 -> G7 -> G -> G#5 -> G#5(9) and finally resolving on E, the 6th... all from a base E major shape bar III.
this really got me dissecting chord shapes in a whole new way. for instance, i recently took a detour thru the caged course. i'm not a big fan of the sound of the G minor shape, but it gives access to the G min 7, G min 6, G min b6 (which is also an Eb maj 7)...
i'm slowly beginning to piece together the basic chord shapes, their caged layout, how that fits in scales / arpeggios, triads and inverted chords, and how easily a shape can transform to a 6, 7, 9, etc.
i'll admit, when i joined the site, i had not envisioned how much i'd learn from these quizzes and your answers.
hopefully others will learn from these and join in.
