yeah I know I missed a week, let’s call it Spring Break (I worked all of Spring Break when I was a kid).

Just kinda thought this was a bit interesting and possible good discussion.

this slipped by my notifications somehow...


i see e, b, d#, g#, b, f#,


e, g#, b is e major. that leaves the d# and f#. the d# is the major 7 to e, being a half step below e, so e maj 7 + an f#.


the f# is a major second from e, and played an octave higher, so is takes the role of the 9.


thus the answer is E maj 9


you can also look at this as the standard E chord shape with the second root flattened on step to a maj 7 and the third root on the high e string is augmented a whole step to a major 2nd/9th.
