Collaboration Song #4 - "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer"

Hey fam,

In case you missed the announcement in last months livestream, we are doing "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" for our collaboration song #4. I won't be able to do the jam track and instructional video for it until we get back from visiting my parents (end of October), but I'll get it done asap. It's the Dr. Elmo version, but we will be doing it in the key of G major to make it as easy as possible for everyone to participate. Just wanted to get this info out there so everyone could start listening, thinking and planning.

Hi fam, Here is the instructional video for the fourth and final song of the 2024 Guitar Fam Cover Song Collaboration Challenge. This time, we are looking at “Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer” by Dr. Elmo. All of the lesson resources are available on this page for you. I changed the key to G major to make it easier to play. Hopefully, that will allow as many people as possible to participate in the collaboration. Instructions for recording and submitting your videos are in the lesson. There are quite a few open chords and two bar chords in this tune. Don’t let that stop you if you haven’t mastered bar chords yet. I’ve included some tips to help you work around them if need be. I’ve also supplied four different levels of strumming, so everyone will have something that matches their skill level. The due date for collaboration submissions is Tuesday, December 10th.
