For personal enjoyment I listen to

Peter Green (a lot)

BB King (occasionally)

Slash (blues songs)

And Nate Savage (keeps me on track)

For motivation I listen to Nate while I watch his videos. The way his fingers smoothly cruise up and down the frets while he is so relaxed and confident is truly a motivation-boost shot in the arm for me. I mean it.

Some years back I bought a blues course from him but because I was working as a federal government contractor (extremely time consuming but very lucrative) I had the course on top of my dresser and never took advantage of it. After damaging disk #1, I put it aside and got distracted due to unable to reOrder the course (no longer available).

Years later I searched for him online and found this community. God was nice to me (again). I joined it quickly.

But now things are different and I took an oath to take his new course and finish it.... No matter what.

Who we listen to will influence what we play. I think that if I listen to a wide range of players, I may become like the wind, to and fro, not knowing which genre to marry.

Perhaps... To some not yet married to a genre, then listening to a wide range of musicians is a great way to explore a landscape of sounds and musical expressions.
