Jim's Guitar Progress
This is my first post here in the personal progress area of the forum. I made a video of where I am on song #1 of the cover song challenge. It's "Two of Us", the song that opens The Beatle's Let it Be album. I can still remember back in 1970 when my sister bought the record and we popped it on the record player for the first time. From the moment I heard it, I was captivated by the song. Until not that long ago, it had seemed to me to be a love song Paul had written. Presumably to his wife Linda. Nowadays, I still see it as a love song, though not to Linda, but to John. It speaks to what it was like being a Beatle, trying to get away from things as well as trying to deal with the business-end of being a Beatle. It also harkens back to Paul and John's early days together. I love this song and I think it's an underrated one in the Beatle's catalog.
So here's a take of mine on "Two of Us". It's got a backing track I made and I did a vocal. I've really never tried to play and sing at the same time, and this sure shows I need to improve. Still, it was fun to do and I learned a lot about playing, singing, and merging all the stuff together to make a video.
I'm going to keep working on it and hopefully I'll be able to post a better take in the future.
I'm a complete introvert, so doing this is really far out of my comfort zone. But that's another great thing about the challenge Nate and Chelsea gave us.
Here it is:
Really enjoyed meeting up and we certainly credit guitarfam (and also Andy’s sessions) that this happened. Thankfully the weather is good at the moment for you and I hope you enjoy the rest of your travels. Niamh x
