Hi from Sweden!

Hi, Kristian here from Sweden, not to be confused with Switzerland! ๐Ÿ˜„ 57 years old, living with my parter Karin and two kids (who both is learning the guitar) in Karlstad.

I tried learning to play some acoustic guitar in my youth, but never even got past strumming chords cleanly. My younger brother did learn pretty well though and played in a band for many years after. I was a bit jealous of him actually. Later I grew more fond of playing keaybord, synths and piano, and tried learning that as well, but failed there too as soon as my initial spark died.

As my younger son started playing guitar in school I retrieved the electric guitar the older son had as his first from the attic, a cheap Squire Strat that isn't too bad honestly. Learned from youtube how to make a proper setup of the guitar, switched out the pickups to better ones and there it was - a proper guitar fully playable. The younger son chose to play the other smaller nylon acoustic guitar as it was easier for him and I grabbed the Squire and started strumming a few chords I remebered and there I decided to give it a go. Looked up a few youtube videos on some licks and riffs and realized - I can do it (well almost at least). And then I googled and stumbled on Nate, actually from his earlier emplyments and then landed here at Guitar Fam. Started the complimentary foundations course and was hooked. I realize from my age that I will never be as good, or fast as those guitar heros I listen to, but I'll try to go as far as I can. I have already developed an understanding of the guitar and how it all connects - from it being a total mystery. Cool!

Currently I have just finished the first module of the Blues hound and have already been able to actually play those blues riffs I have circling in my head. To hear someting in my head and be able to find out how to play it exacly as I hear it in the head is by far the most exhilarating experience so far for me musically.

Musically I listen to a lot of different genres depending on mood. Lately I have been a lot into blues rock actually. Some artists/bands: Pink Floyd, Mark Knopfler, Dire Straits, Saga (Canadian band), Riverside, Wishbone Ash, The Aristocrats, Jeff Beck, Joe Bonamassa, Philip Sayce, Snowy White, Andy Wood, Johnny Hiland.
