Hello from Gananogue Ontario My Guitar journey after year One
Firstly I’d like to extend my appreciation to Nate and Chelsea for providing this great opportunity to be a member of GuitarFam. Being a member has been extremely motivating and inspiring. My journey will continue!
Well it’s been a year to the day since I joined the Fam. I’ve be been retired a few years now and decided a year ago it was my desire to learn to play and sing so I could participate at casual very small local coffee shop Venus. I Bought my Taylor Mini Koa guitar a year ago and just love it. I’m new to guitar and I must say it’s been a very enjoyable journey being a member of the Fam. The teaching and guidance I’ve recieved from Nate and Chelsea has been invaluable in my quest. Every day I look forward to learning and improving my guitar and vocal skills. I have about 8 songs I’m currently working on. I try polishing every one every day. If only my memory was what it was a while ago LOL as remembering chords, patterns and lyrics is challenging at best.
@Wayne Taylor, uh oh, better watch out. That Open Mic bug is gonna get ya. I started doing them 5 years ago and now I do an average of 1 a week. They are challenging but rewarding, especially when other musicians tell ya how well ya did.
Don’t compare yourself to others but watch, listen & learn from each. Ask questions.
Don’t be afraid to screw up. Do new songs as you learn them; that will improve your playing so much.
Record your performances and critique (not criticize) yourself later and learn how to improve upon each performance.
Most importantly have FUN!!!!!!!!🤩
