Happy to Meet My New Creative Friends
Hi, my name Is Manfred Pfeifer. I’m from the Chicago suburban town of Arlington Heights and looking forward to becoming an active member of what looks like an awesome group of creatives. I started “playing” guitar when I was in 7th grade taking music lesson with an electric guitar that I bought from a mail order catalog in Germany. Well the lessons consisted of learning notes and how to play “Little Brown Jug.” I wanted to play Satisfaction or You Really Got Me or Loui Loui. But my teacher insisted I learn notes before chords. So I gave up. I tried again in high school with an acoustic guitar I bought at Sears. Again, no luck learning anything. I returned to the guitar back in the 80s when I had a Flamenco guitar built for me in Spain. I took a number of group lessons at the Chicago Old Town School of Music. I had an excellent teacher that taught us chords, rythem and how to keep time while playing with a group of likewise musicians. Then children, work and international travel took me away from the guitar for more than 40 years. Now in my late 70s, and nearly retired I bought myself a Taylor 324BE; a Martin D18 and a Taylor Minii that I added to my Gibson Les Paul and Spanish Flamenco guitars. “Now that I have the time and having spent all this hard earned cash I’m really going to stick to learning how to really play guitar” , I promised myself. I followed a number of musicians on You Tube and am currently doing zoom lesson with Chad Evans. I’m also constantly searching the web for how to play songs taught on you tube -

which brings me to where I am right now. I ran across GuitarFam and it piqued my interest. I just joined and wanted to introduce myself to the group and look forward to hanging out here and maybe even jamming with some of you one day. Let’s keep rocking’ in the free world!
Great idea! Thanks I WILL DO THAT
