MusicNomad Acousti-Lok Strap Lock Adapter Testimonial

Here is another gear hack. I've had both a good and not so good experience with this piece of gear.

My first acoustic guitar, Epiphone PR-5E, had a combined pickup jack and strap button. It was hard to get the traditional strap to sit right on the button as there just wasn't a lot of space to wedge it in there. Then when you take into account taking the strap off and putting it back on, in and out of the guitar case, it was really annoying. As a side note, I only remove the strap at the bottom of my guitars when I am putting them in the case.

I did some research and found this nifty adapter (see first picture) made by MusicNomad (https://a.co/d/cEd0TLk). In order to make it even easier to take the strap on and off, I combined this piece of gear with half of the Schaller S Locks system (https://a.co/d/902cSw5). I only used the part for the strap and didn't replace the button at the jack. In the picture below, you can see that the adapter also works with D'Addario's Auto Lock Guitar Strap (https://a.co/d/agC8bRM, see my other post on this strap in the Gear section of the forum). My only con is that the Schaller attachment rattles some.

When I got my dreadnought, I had a K&K Pure Mini pickup installed. It cost less to have the luthier install it through the pickup jack. I figured I would just apply this same adapter/Schaller system to this guitar as well. Unfortunately, after about 7 months the jack loosened up and needed to be tightened. I can't prove it but I'm wondering if having the adapter on this one and maybe it being jerked here and there loosened the jack. I was going to try and tighten the jack myself but I couldn't loosen the adapter so that I could remove it. Back to the luthier I went. He had a devil of a time getting it off himself. I didn't want to go through that again so I've stopped using the adapter. I thought maybe the above mentioned D'Addario strap would work but the shaft of the jack/strap button is too wide. However, the strap space on this button is a tad bit larger than my Epiphone one and so taking the strap on and off isn't quite as much of a pain (see second picture).

Again, I wanted to share in case this helps someone else.

I appreciate you posting this second review as well! Super helpful in my eventual search for a secure strap for my live gigs. Both of my acoustic guitars have a combined pickup jack and strap button.
