It's been about 20 years since I had my first experience with guitar amp modeling. It was the original Line 6 POD, and I first discovered it when I was going in to record a demo with my band back then. I had brought a Peavey 5150 half stack into the session, and I had to admit that the POD that the sound engineer had sounded better... at least at the time, I thought it did.
So, what do you think of the current state of amp modeling? Has it come a long way? Does it have a long way to go? I use my HX Stomp nearly every day, and I love it! However, does anything compare to a real cranked amp? I'm very blessed to have both digital modeling options and real amps (even if I don't get to crank them up very often). There are some great modern options for this problem coming out too. The Two-Notes Captor X and the Suhr Reactive Load IR are just a couple of things that come to mind. Things will only get better from here.
