Tonex vs. Kemper Profile Player

Hi fam,

I just sold my HX Stomp and Tonex pedal because I heard that Kemper was coming out with the compact Profile Player for a reasonable price. I’ve always wanted a Kemper but didn’t want to pay $2,000 - $3,000 for one. The profile player is $698, so that made it feasible for me. Luckily, Chelsea still has her Tonex pedal, so that made it possible for me to do a little comparison video between these two units.

If you are wondering if you should buy the Kemper or the Tonex, I can tell you that I think they both sound and feel equally good. The main thing to consider is what you need the unit to do. If you need an all-in-one pedal-sized unit that does everything, then the Kemper is probably the way to go. If you need a unit that has great amp sounds but want to keep using your other delay and reverb pedals, the Tonex might suit you better.

Give the video above a watch for some more comparison points and sound samples. One thing is for sure, I love the way both of these things sound, and they are small enough to grab and go even if you have to add an extra pedal or two to your gig bag. You can check out the Kemper or Tonex by following the links below. (We are not affiliated with either)

Have a good one,

Nate

Thanks for the detailed video! I too have both Kemper (lunchbox) and Tonex. Haven't A/B them, plan to sometime, but i'm really digging the Tonex lately. :) Like the FX on the Tonex as too, don't really need much more. Also got an IK Z-Tone Buffer Booster that i think enhances the sound of the Tonex, nifty little box - would probably use that with the Kemper as well. I agree both Kemper and Tonex sound great. Love the small size of the Tonex though. For an all in one for good amp sounds and FX and bedroom playing/quick gigs, can't ask for much more. The Kemper seems klunky to me size-wise now, but the player would probably do i…
