"Leaving on a Jet Plane"

Download the Jam Track

Here is a quick and easy version of the song “Leaving on a Jet Plane” by John Denver. This is a great one if you need a nice-sounding cover song in a hurry. There are only three chords in the entire song, and you can get away with only one strumming pattern.

Chelsea and I will show you the chords, main chord progression, and a basic strumming pattern if you want to keep things simple. If you want to dress things up a bit, we will also show you an alternative strumming pattern and some fingerpicking patterns. There is even a simple chord chart of the main progression for you to print out.

The song is in the key of G major, and the tempo is 121bpm. Once you get this song down, feel free to post a video of yourself playing along to the original recording.

If you have a more challenging song that you need help with, you can book a private video lesson with me here on the site. The first one is complimentary, so there is no risk.

Hi Nate:

Pls include the lyrics in the chord sheet for all songs you teach. "All my my bags are packed" does not have the lyrics. That is helpful to us.

Also, When Chelsea plays, pls ask her to play the same strumming patten she teaches. I know she is very accomplished. This would be helpful for us.

Thank you so much.

Hey Andy, I don't think we ever ended up making a jam track for this one. Sorry about that. I'll try to get to it when I get the time. Thanks for pointing it out.
