Jam Track - No Guitar

Most guitarists learn solos by finding the TAB, memorizing the fret numbers, and trying to make it sound right. There's nothing wrong with that approach, but it leaves something important on the table.

When you learn where to put your fingers without understanding why those notes work, you're painting by numbers. You can copy the picture but you can't create your own.

That's where the CAGED system changes everything.

Slash isn't guessing when he plays over chord changes. He knows exactly where he is on the neck at all times and makes conscious choices about which notes to emphasize based on the chords underneath him.

When you learn to see solos through that same lens, figuring out new solos gets faster, your improvising gets more intentional, and you start building your own voice on the guitar.

In this lesson we break down the first solo from November Rain using the CAGED system as a framework, so you can start thinking about solos the way great players do.
